Our Beliefs
Cottage Grove Baptist Church is a fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist Church. Our belief is that the Local Church was instituted by God in the New Testament for the fellowship and edification of believers. If you have any further questions about what we believe, please Contact Us for more information.
What we believe about The Bible
It is God's special revelation to man. Further-more, we believe that every word is inspired by the Holy Spirit in the original manuscripts.
The Bible is the inerrant, authoritative Word of God to man. We can have total confidence in the Bible and stake our eternal soul on it. The Word of God will never pass away. By the providential work of God, the Word of God was preserved in copies and translations of the original text. It is the source of absolute truth. It answers questions about God, Jesus Christ, origin of life, man, and history.

What we believe about Jesus Christ
He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life which proved He was/is God. His dying on the cross provided the only payment for mans' sin that would satisfy a holy and righteous God.
He rose again on the third day and thereby conquered sin & death. He is the only means of salvation and the only way to the Father. He is seated now at the right hand of the Father in heaven. He intercedes on behalf of all believers. He is physically coming back to the earth; though it could be any moment, no man knows when.

What we believe about Ministry
Foremost is being faithful in the Word and in fellowship with Christ. Abiding in Him is essential in order to have an effective ministry.
Ministering to the needs of the body (the church family) through prayer, encouragement, fellowship, and materially are encouraged. Each family is challenged to look for opportunities to speak of Christ and God's Word in their circle of influence.

What we believe about Salvation
It is a result of godly repentance for personal sin before a righteous God and trusting alone in Jesus Christ for cleansing from sin.
It is a work of God in the heart of a person, not just a man's decision. It is a gift of God, not a result of doing good works. It is secure and you can not "lose" it.

What we believe about Spiritual Growth
Once a person has repented of their sin and put their trust in Christ alone, they have become a "new creature, old things are past away, all things become new."
Spiritual growth is a natural result of a person who is faithful in the Scriptures and obeying the Spirit of God. A person who has no interest in the Bible or in obeying the Spirit of God will not grow spiritually.

We are a family friendly church
Families are not separated, but worship together. Sunday school includes a time of corporate prayer and a discussion of the sunday school worksheet.
Families seek to edify and strengthen those in the church who are not in a nuclear family. Families share fellowship meals together 2-3 Sundays per month.
